6 Steps for Living God’s Dream For Your Life

Dreams aren’t created instantly. Sometimes we take the easy way in believing that our dream will happen overnight and that the dreams of others have happened over night as well. It can be hard to accept that there will be hardships along the way.  Our natural tendency is to stray away from what’s hard or get frustrated, all to get as fast as we can to the comfort, happiness, and success we all yearn for. That is not how dreams work. Dreams are slow-cooked. Dreams are marinated in a little success, some tears, some sweat, and a lot of hard work...it’s a journey.  And journeys are filled with a mix of everything, which makes them so memorable, so unforgettable, and so empowering.

lets chat about your dreams

I want you to get ready to go through your dream journey with amazing confidence. So even when setbacks, success, or distractions happen you can rest assured knowing that no matter what you will get through your journey and have the most incredible and inspiring story to tell...your story.

Your story starts with a dream. I want to take you through the 6 stages of dream development. This comes from Rick Warren’s God’s Dream For Your Life online study I’m hosting going on now:

1.  Discover the dream. Talk about the dream. Visualize the dream. You must become an active participant in finding more clarity in your purpose. Here are two things that youcan do to start discovering your purpose: Pray and Get Involved. Pray and ask God to reveal His vision for your life. Then get involved in activities that interest you. If you have tons of interest, don’t be overwhelmed. Start with what comes to mind and follow its lead.

2.  Make the decision to go after your dream. You do this by investing all of yourself into your dreams, not just your money and time. You also must give something up. It is like playing on the monkey bars. I know we are all probably familiar with playing on monkey bars as a kid. So, you know that as you move across the monkey bars you have to let go of the bar behind you so that you can move forward to the bar in front of you. It is the same when you decide that you are going to move forward on your dreams. There will be things, places, and people that you are going to have to letgo of in order to move forward.

3.  Know that there will be delays.  I love what Rick Warren says about delays. When it comes to delays he says stay away from the 4Fs, Don’t fret, fear, faint, or forget.  Don’t worry about delays, they are build in by design to reveal your obedience, consistency, and loyalty to your dream. Don’t fear. Rick Warren also mentions the interesting fact that there are enough "fear nots" in the bible for every single day of the year. That's a BIG hint that we should not fear acting on our dream.  Don’t faint, don’t give up; because a delay isn’t a denial. And don’t forget all of the things God has brought you through.

Anything is Possible Activity

A great exercise is to write down all of the things and events in your life that you thought were once impossible or uncomfortable with and now you see they were possible and came true.

4. There will be difficulties and problems. Some will be caused by your circumstances. Some will be caused by critics. Three things we learn to do in God’s Dream For Your Life online study regarding difficulties is that: 1) They causeyou to drift, 2) That we shouldn’t discard them, and 3) To not despair.

5. You will hit a dead end. Dead ends are a part of every journey. It is what you do when you reach one that makes all the difference. Do you turn around and say this is too much? Do you say I’m lost I have no idea what I’m doing or where I’m going? What is your response to a dead end? I teach my three R's solutions to those frustrating deadends: 1) Reevaluate, 2) Redirect, 3) Realign. Reevaluate where you are and where you want to or should be. Redirect yourself in the right direction, do a U-turn and either use your experience to get on the right track or ask another expert. Realign yourself on the right path and start moving forward.

6. Deliverance. A success moment. A celebration. You’ve found a glimpse of joy in beginning to become the person you are meant to become. Success is not the end ofthe journey. It’s just a stop a road full of more adventures, setbacks, difficulties, and success moments.
